Solar water heating is one of the most proven methods of capturing the sun's energy. Recent developments in the production of evacuated tube solar water heaters are very efficient. They capture enough that it is practical to consider their use as part of the whole house heating system. Please feel free to share you experiences with this technology. Lighting LED lighting is now the preferred lighting of choice for many applications. I have been involved with LED lighting for some time I have watched it's early migration into replacing pilot lamps on many pieces of equipment through it's incorporation in automobiles then architectural and theatrical lighting then automobiles and then to commercial lighting and now it's emergence as the lighting of choice for domestic lighting. There are a lot of reasons why LED lighting should and will be the dominant lighting method. It is less costly to operate, maintain and in many cases to install than incandescent. fluorescent or halogen lighting. Places where LED is the obvious best performer is in lighting refrigerated areas and difficult to maintain or secure areas. Another consideration is that lighting is a real plus to those that have mobility issues as the extremely long life of the bulbs eliminate the need for replacement while saving hundreds in energy costs.
