The US dollar has been the world oil currency years. In order to buy or sell oil between countries you had to convert it into US dollars to do so.  China, Russia and  others are now trading directly between each other bypassing conversion to the dollar..If one studies history, one will find there have been serious ramification
when there is a change in what currency is the reserve currency.
